New USAID Administrator Shah Discusses Agency Vision

On Wednesday, May 7, 2010, Dr. Rajiv Shah, the newly appointed Administrator of the US Agency for International Development, outlined a strong vision for bringing the agency into a new leadership role in global development. Hosted by the US Global Leadership Coalition at George Washington University's Jack Morton Auditorium, the crowd awaiting Dr. Shah's address and Q&A interactive comments were not disappointed. Some key highlights of the 'transformative' vision for strengthening the agency's impact and outcomes include bringing in technological leadership and demonstrating that USAID is a transparent learning organization, engaging stakeholders' input, building local capacity and institutions, talent management reforms, and new procurement reforms. Monitoring and evaluation for assessing programs and outcomes is another theme for bringing efficiency to USAID's operations and crystallizing the agency's values. GPU CEO Evelyn Cherow attended the event.
